Mental Arithmetic

Solve simple or multi-digit arithmetic problems mentally, typically under time pressure. Used as a working-memory loading task, a processing-speed measure, and a cognitive-load benchmark. Distinct from number-comparison (symbolic magnitude judgment without arithmetic) and from approximate-number-system tasks (non-symbolic).
