Head-Turn Preference Procedure (HPP)
Infant is seated between two side lights and audio speakers. A flashing light attracts the infant's gaze toward a speaker; a sustained auditory stimulus then plays from that side and continues until the infant looks away. Looking time toward each side serves as an index of relative interest in the two auditory stimulus types. Standard methodology for testing infant speech perception, word segmentation, and phonotactic learning.
