Phonological Awareness
Family of tasks that probe a participant’s awareness of and ability to manipulate the sound structure of language at the syllable, onset-rime, and phoneme level. Includes rhyme judgment, phoneme deletion, syllable counting, and segmentation. A foundational predictor of reading acquisition in school-age children.
